Submission Guidelines

We apologize, but Manta Press is currently

closed for submissions.

We will be accepting submissions again Autumn of 2023. Please check back.

Thank you for your interest in Manta Press! We know your manuscript is dying to be unleashed upon the world, but there are a few things you need to know

before sending it our way…

To start, we are looking for original and previously unpublished horror, sci-fi, fantasy, dystopian, mystery, and suspense thrillers targeted toward adult, young adult, and middle grade readers. Our ideal word count is between 30k and 80k words,

with 30k being a hard minimum.

Secondly, and we can’t stress this enough, we are looking for fully-edited manuscripts. While we proofread and make those minor corrections, we do not perform nor fund content or line editing.

As for marketing and promotion, we primarily use social media to promote our company, authors, and books. Any extensive and/or paid marketing and promotion is the responsibility of our authors. In return, Manta Press authors see a larger than normal percentage of royalties. You know, the ones doing the real work (ie. the writing, editing, promoting). That means if you’re going to submit to Manta Press, you must be of the mindset to actively market your book should we choose to publish it.

(So yes, mentioning how you plan to promote with your query

would most certainly earn you bonus points.)

So, now that you know what to expect from a relationship with Manta Press,

if you are still interested in pursuing publication with us, please email us at submissions@mantapress.com with your query, a brief synopsis, and the first few thousand words of your manuscript in the body of your email. Please include the title, genre, and word count in the subject line. If we read your sample and find ourselves unable to sleep until we’ve read the whole story, we will follow up with a request for the entire manuscript. Please allow 4 – 6 weeks for a response one way or another.

Thanks again for your interest in Manta Press.
